Historická tramvaj GTM4 BOVERA č. 78

Historic tram GTM4 BOVERA No. 78

The GTM4 trams represented the peak of the interwar tram production for the 1000 mm gauge. With regard to the future operation on the tram lines going from Ústí nad Labem to the surrounding villages (Telnice, Chabařovice), they were equipped very luxuriously. The classic wooden benches were replaced by leather seats and there were also folding tables. In total, eighteen of these cars were produced and delivered to Ústí in 1929 and 1930. After the war, their significance declined with reconstructions that somewhat degraded them. Their operation in Ústí closed in 1966 with the end of the operation in Klíš. Car No. 78 (from 1954 No. 88) escaped scrapping and liquidation by conversion to rail grinding in 1965. Four years later, in 1969, it came to Liberec, where it served as a grinding machine for almost twenty years. Between 1987 and 2000, it was renovated to its appearance from the years of operation from 1945 to 1954 and represents the only surviving operating car of the once extensive tram operation in Ústí nad Labem.

Boveraclub - Liberec association of transport enthusiasts. It was founded in 1987 and in its 30 years of existence it has managed to renovate and put into operation several local trams. In addition, it maintains other local historical vehicles, including buses. More information can be found on the association's website: www.boveraclub.com.
